G'day mate,

Generaly I would say cut back to 3 - 4 exercises per muscle group, the reps and sets would depend on what you are training for i.e strength, power etc.

When it comes to over training you should listen to what your body is saying. Lack of sleep, soreness, irritability, loss of appetite these are but a few things your body will throw at you to tell you to slow down or have a break, and the list will go on.

With any form of exercise it's quality not quantity. Their are many advanced techniques you can use to overload your muscles without having to add set after set to avoid a training plataue.

I'd recommend you sit down list your training goals and develop a stuctured Periodisation style plan to cover all aspects of your training and meet these goals.

I should mention that overtraining or overreaching is a method used by bodybuilders but should be used with caution. If done incorrectly you will most certanly burn out or injure yourself and be out of action for a long time.

If you would like some help with a training plan e-mail me at info@peakfitnesssolutions.com or check out www.peakfitnesssolutions.com/onlinefitness.html
